Michigan Safeties coach Chris Partridge is considered to be one of the best recruiters in the nation, and when his contract expired in early January, the Alabama Crimson Tide made him a job offer.
Partridge declined the offer and ultimately received a raise in salary at Michigan.
But why not head to ‘Bama? Going to coach for the reigning National Champions is a good gig.
“We can do everything we want to do here. Win a National Championship,” Partridge said.

“The guys that I’ve recruited, that I have a really good relationship with, I just felt like it was better for me to see it out, see if we can do what we’ve come together to want to do.”
Another factor in Patridge’s decision to stay was Jim Harbaugh. “I appreciate Jim, I gotta be loyal to him, he gave me a shot, and not a lot of people would have gave a high school coach a shot,” he said.
While Partridge remained loyal to Michigan, he did admit the Alabama offer was flattering. “It’s awesome. You’re talking about a team that just won the National Championship so obviously it’s a shock at first. It would have been the ability to work for another great coach and see a different perspective but at the same time I kind of love what’s going on here. But yeah, it was flattering for sure,” Partridge said.
