Happy Tuesday, folks

Happy Tuesday, folks. Welcome to Morning Brews. Aside from all the new football commits (yes, that was five within the span of about 28 hours), the world of Michigan athletics is pretty quiet right now. Therefore, the Brews are a little lean today—call it a skinny pack.

Let’s get to it:

Michigan hockey in NHL development camps. The NHL Draft has just come and gone with Quinn Hughes leading the Wolverines as the seventh overall pick, but several additional players will be attending NHL development camps—seventeen, in fact. According to a University press release, “The NHL camps, which do not affect student-athletes’ NCAA eligibility, are designed to give players the experience of an NHL training camp.” For the full list of players and the respective squads, check out the link above.

Athletic Department Top-15 plays. As part of the MGoBlue Awards, which are Michigan’s in-house way of recognizing student athletes and teams, the Athletic Department Twitter account (@umichathletics) is counting down the top 15 plays from the 2017-18 academic year. Starting at No. 15 is football’s goal line stand to beat Indiana. For the rest of the plays across Michigan athletics, check out the Department’s Twitter account through Wednesday when they’ll reach No. 1.

John Beilein is on some type of run over the past seven years. He’s racked up a Sweet Sixteen, an Elite Eight, two national runners-up, two Big Ten Conference championships, and two Big Ten Tournament championships—and nine NBA Draft selections. We’re incredibly fortunate to have John Beilein at the helm, folks. Moe Wagner going to the L.A. Lakers is just the latest sign of that.

Speaking of guys we’re fortunate to have, we all know Chris Evans has the tools to be something special—and he seems to be leading for the feature back position come next fall. For a preview of what he may be up to after the season starts, check out this highlight from last year’s game against Minnesota.
