Michigan basketball now knows the dates and it’s full schedule for the 2018-19 season.
For the first time ever, the Big Ten will put on a 20-game conference schedule and for the second consecutive season will have league games in December. Every Big Ten team will play seven conference opponents twice and then the rest of the six league opponents will be split home and away.
The Wolverines double-plays are against Michigan State, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, Northwestern and Wisconsin. U-M will play only home games against Ohio State, Nebraska and Purdue and will be on the road for Illinois, Iowa and Rutgers.
The Big Ten also announced before the 2018-19 season protected rivalries, meaning U-M and MSU will play every season twice from here on out.
Early games to circle on the calendar include North Carolina (Nov. 28), Purdue (Dec. 1) and South Carolina (Dec. 8). The Wolverines play some key home contests against Indiana (Jan. 6), Wisconsin (Feb. 9), Maryland (Feb. 16), and MSU (Feb. 24). For the fans in Ann Arbor, this is good news because six of the 10 home games U-M plays falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
The Wolverines do have two road games on Friday nights against Indiana (Jan. 25) and Iowa (Feb. 1) but for the second straight year won’t play in Crisler Arena on a Friday.
The Wolverines will end the regular season at MSU (March 9) for the Spartans senior night. Last season, the Wolverines took both meetings (in East Lansing and the Big Ten Tournament) from MSU.
Here is a look at U-M’s full schedule.
