Thursday Morning Brews: Fame makes a man take things over

It’s chilly in the midwest and we hope Morning Brews warm you up

NCAA Basketball: Penn State at Michigan Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Thursday’s brews. Trevor Woods here filling in for the highly talented/busy ClevelandJames. This edition of brews is throwing football, basketball, and hockey at you, as well as song lyrics in the article and/or story title.

Let’s roll...

Iggy receives props

Ignas Brazdeikis may just be a freshman, but he has impacted the Michigan basketball team in a profound way. Iggy has already shown to be a fiery leader who has athleticism and versatility on both sides of the floor. There are lots of college basketball players, and for him to be among The Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 is a great feat. Keep it up, Iggy.

Mo’s still a Michigan Man

Donovan Peoples-Jones really started to show what he’s capable of in 2018, and when it comes to 2019, WATCH OUT.

Former Wolverine, current Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Maurice Hurst, tweeted at DPJ and told him it’s his time and to lead Michigan to the playoffs.

While there’s a heavy amount of pessimism in the fanbase at the moment, internally they don’t feel they’re that far off from making the College Football Playoff.

And then there were two

The Michigan basketball team is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation with a 15-0 record. After Houston’s loss on Wednesday the only remaining undefeated team is Virginia. Michigan hasn’t had a cupcake schedule to this point in the season, either, with big time wins over Villanova and North Carolina on their resume.

Women’s basketball stays undefeated at home

It doesn’t matter what sport, Michigan and Northwestern almost always seem to have games that go down to the wire. In this one Michigan was able to come from behind and get out of the building with a 1-point win. The team is currently 11-5 and will be taking on the Terrapins in Maryland on Saturday.

Hockey heads to Columbus

We’ll have a full article on this tilt later today. Michigan beat No. 6 Notre Dame last Saturday only to lose to Merrimack 4-2 on Tuesday. Michigan must win both of the games against Ohio State this weekend.

If you guessed which song had the lyrics I used, congratulations, clicking the play button below will definitely funk up your morning.
