Michigan Basketball needed a boost from the bench on Sunday with Isaiah Livers again sidelined with back spasms and they got it from a bit of an unlikely source. With not much depth among the big men, true freshman Brandon Johns received his shot to shine.
Johns had eight points and eight rebounds in 13 minutes played and was everything Michigan could have asked for coming off the bench.
He reacted to his big night after the game:
Head coach John Beilein admitted after the game that they have not seen much of this in practice from Johns and that it is still a work in progress, but games like tonight help and that he now has a case to be the first big off the bench. They will see how he does in practice this week before Thursday night’s game at Illinois.
Here’s more from Beilein after the game.
