Coming off the heels of a three-loss season, Michigan Wolverines football fans really have no choice but to look to the future. That future seems a little brighter thanks to the hype surrounding freshman Daxton Hill, who was named by 247Sports as a player to watch next season.
Hill got a decent amount of playing time at safety during his freshman year, racking up 28 tackles to go with 3 passes defended and an interception.
Hill, of course, came to Michigan as a five-star recruit from the 2019 class. He was ranked as the top safety in the nation.
247Sports raved about the safety’s potential in Michigan’s defense.
He’s only scratching the surface of what he could do in that Michigan defense, so fans in Ann Arbor should be excited about the future with him patrolling the defensive backfield. He’ll be a player to watch as he continues to develop under the tutelage of Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown.
Top 10 Michigan football moments
Our own Daniel Plocher recently completed a breakdown of the Top 10 Michigan football moments of the decade. Without giving No. 1 away, some of the moments include Michigan’s dismantling of Florida in Jim Harbaugh’s first season, as well as multiple old fashion shootouts during the Denard Robinson era.
Here’s what Plocher had to say about one such game, Michigan 67-65, three-overtime victory over Illinois in 2010:
The best word to describe this game: WOW.
The two teams combined 1,237 combined yards of offense and 17 touchdowns in this shootout. This was by far the most entertaining and gut wrenching game of the decade. It was proof Michigan was no longer anywhere near the top dogs in the Big Ten because they could barely struggle past the Illinois Fighting Illini. But, the offensive explosion and the triple-OT battle makes it one of the best games in Michigan history.
Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson combined for 523 total yards, 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions:
Other brews
- Alabama is among five teams put on upset alert during bowl season, in a 247Sports article posted recently. ‘Bama is currently favored by seven against Michigan. The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1 on ABC.
- Hunter Dickinson, a four-star center who recently committed to play collegiate basketball with Michigan, spoke with Rivals.com about his decision, saying a big part of his decision to sign with the Wolverines came down to Juwan Howard’s coaching ability as well as his passion for the university.
