Hey everyone, and welcome to this week’s Tuesday Brews.
I am taking over for James today — he should be back on Thursday. In the meantime, let’s get into some Michigan non-rev sports action!
The Michigan baseball team brought out the brooms over the weekend at home, as they defeated Northwestern 4-1 on Saturday, and 3-2 and 10-1 on Easter Sunday.
The boys are now 28-11 and an astonishing 16-2 at home. The Wolverines take on Rutgers at home this weekend for a three-game series.
The ladies also brought out their brooms this weekend, as they swept the Illinois Fighting Illini. A 2-1 victory Friday, 9-8 win Saturday and 16-5 blowout Sunday got the job done for the Wolverines, who are now 33-11 and 15-1 in the conference this season.
Michigan plays MSU today at home and will welcome in the Nittany Lions this weekend for a three-game series, before heading to Maryland next weekend for the final series of the year.
Women’s Gymnastics’ season ends in NCAA Semis.
Both men’s and women’s gymnastics teams ended their seasons this past weekend, and the ladies took home third place in the NCAA Championships Semifinal. The Wolverines finished behind UCLA and LSU.
Freshman Natalie Wojcik also won an individual National Championship on the balance beam. She is the second balance beam champion in program history, and the first since Elise Ray in 2002.
Men’s Gymnastics places fourth in NCAAs.
Meanwhile, the men gymnasts finished their season 20-9 and with a fourth place finish in the NCAAs. Senior Anthony McCallum won an individual National Championship in the vault for the third straight year. Not too shabby, if I say so myself.
Congrats to both the men and women gymnastics teams for strong finishes to the season.
That’s all for today! Check back on Thursday for more Morning Brews.
