Happy Friday y’all, and welcome in to another Michigan Recruiting Roundup!
As Jonathan pointed out on Wednesday, it’s the dead period. There ain’t a ton going on as college programs around the country prepare for Week 1, which is approaching quick.
Today, we will dive in and talk about something that Anthony briefly hit on in a Morning Brews a couple days ago, so let’s just get right to it.
Michigan basketball offers Juwan Howard’s son
On Wednesday, the basketball program offered a scholarship to someone with a pretty good relationship to head coach Juwan Howard — 2020 forward Jace Howard.
So good, in fact, that Juwan is Jace’s father.
Michigan just offered 2020 wing Jace Howard, the son of head coach Juwan Howard, he tells @Rivals @Balas_Wolverine https://t.co/ohzHnvWv4w

At 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, the younger Howard holds other offers from Dayton, San Diego State, Northern Illinois and others. He is not ranked on 247Sports’ composite.
Father-son duos have happened in college basketball before, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone the offer went out. In fact, the No. 1 player in the 2020 class, Evan Mobley, committed to USC, and it isn’t sheer coincidence his father is an assistant coach for the Trojans.
Josh Henschke of The Michigan Insider ($) also reported about this offer, as Jace said it is “very special” to receive the offer, especially with how important the university is to his family. Henschke also is reporting Jace will officially visit Ann Arbor during the weekend of Sept. 7, which is shaping up to be a huge recruiting weekend for the hoops program.
Given Jace’s height and weight, he probably wouldn’t be a big man like his father was for the Wolverines, but if he is anything like the older Howard, he’d probably be just as physical.
At this point, it seems like it’s only a matter of “when” and not “if” Jace commits to U-M.
Also, Dr. Rajiv Rajani on Twitter made me laugh out loud; I just had to share with you guys.
Does the NCAA mandate how many in home visits @JuwanHoward can make?

That’s (unfortunately) all we got this week! Once we inch closer to the season, we will have more football recruiting news to dish out. But until then, have a great weekend!
