The University of Michigan athletic department released the latest batch of data for COVID-19 testing of student athletes and staff on Friday. The program tested 276 athletes and coaches/staff this week, yielding 9 positive tests. 1,005 students/staff have been tested since returning to campus.
Here are the numbers provided by U-M Athletics. These figures span all student-athletes currently on campus, along with staff members and coaches that have been tested. For reference, you can access last week’s report at the link here.
Student-athlete tests for COVID-19 to date: 820
Positive Tests: 28
Staff member tests: 185
Positive tests: 1
Total individual (student-athletes + coaches/staff) tests: 1,005
Positive tests: 29
Latest testing updates as of July 31
Total individuals (student-athletes + coaches/ staff) tested between July 24-31: 276
Positive tests between July 24-31: 9
Note from U-M: The overall number of tests and positive results will not necessarily equal the sum of this week’s update plus the figures give in prior weeks’ updates. This is due to the number and timing of surveillance tests being conducted, and reflective of the fact that some test results lag behind others.
