Michigan trending in pursuit of four-star 2021 guard, decision could drop shortly

The Wolverines are close to adding another pledge to the 2021 recruiting class.

The Michigan Wolverines added a commitment to the 2021 basketball recruiting class early Monday morning in the form of three-star forward Will Tschetter, but the momentum may not be stopping there.

Things appear to be happening quickly with the recruitment of in-state shooting guard Kobe Bufkin and as a result, six 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions came in on Monday sending the four-star prospect to the Wolverines.

Bufkin is a four-star prospect and the No. 78 overall player in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He also held offers from Michigan State, DePaul, Missouri, Northwestern and TCU, per his player profile on 247.

Coincidentally, Josh Henschke of The Michigan Insider also put in a Crystal Ball on point guard target Jaden Akins to Michigan State, which would seemingly narrow down Michigan’s pursuit of playmaking, ball-handling guards down to five-star Jalen Warley and four-star Angelo Brizzi.

It is a long way to go until things become official for the 2021 cycle, but a pledge from Bufkin would give Michigan the No. 3 recruiting class in the country early on in the process with several top targets still on the board.

We will have to wait and see what happens, but this seems to be a “when, not if” scenario for Bufkin to join the class.
