Michigan remained at No. 6 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll on Sunday, and now further projections are in via ESPN’s updated Football Power Index.
7-0 Michigan moved from No. 5 to No. 4 in ESPN’s FPI: ESPN gives the Wolverines a 27.2% chance of winning the Big Ten East and a 45% chance of making the College Football Playoff.
The only Big Ten team ranked above Michigan in the FPI is Ohio State at No. 3, who destroyed Indiana 54-7 on Saturday. Despite beating Northwestern 33-7, the FPI dropped Michigan’s chances of beating the Buckeyes from 41.8% last week to 37.4%.
Michigan’s next opponent, Michigan State, is currently No. 14 in the FPI. The only other future Michigan opponent in the FPI’s top 25 is No. 17 Penn State, who dropped six spots after losing to Illinois in a 9 OT affair.
