Daily Brews: Would you be in favor of a 12-team College Football Playoff?

The current College Football Playoff format has remained the same since its inception in 2014, but screams for change have started to become deafening, and rightfully so. The parity in the sport is at a point where predicting the first two teams to not make the CFP is more difficult than the four teams who make it in.

But as Bob Dylan sang, “The times they are a-changin’,” and those changing times could be coming in the next few years. According to Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel, “a pair of CFP meetings are expected to decide a specific recommendation, with a final decision, details and television contract determined later in the fall.” Those meetings are expected to take place in mid-July.

The early favorite to take over the four-team playoff model is an expansion to 12 teams. The reason for 12 teams instead of eight, according to Thamel, is due to what we talked about earlier — parity. If it was changed to an eight-team playoff, five teams would likely be automatically factored in (Power 5 conference champs) along with three at-large teams. With 12, the likelihood for parity is much higher.

You can read the full article for all the details, but my question to you is simple — would you be in favor of a 12-team playoff? I think most college football fans want some sort of change to the playoff, whether it’s an expansion to eight or 12 teams. For the sake of the future of college football, and to see some different teams in the CFP for once, I’m all for 12 teams.

What say you?
