After a roller coaster of a recruitment, the ride is finally over for 2022 four-star point guard Dug McDaniel, as he committed to Juwan Howard and the Michigan Wolverines. The news broke late Thursday night.

The 5-foot-9, 145-pounder chose Michigan over other offers from Florida, UConn, Georgia, Virginia, LSU, VCU, Penn State and more.
McDaniel plays at Paul VI Catholic in Chantilly, Virginia. He also recently played for Team Takeover, reportedly putting on a show last month.
The Wolverines offered McDaniel last August and have been hot on his tail ever since. They were the favorites to land the Fairfax, Virginia native for a while, but the longer his recruitment kept going on, the more point guards Michigan continued to also recruit.
But after his official visit this week, McDaniel finally decided the time had come for him to lock in his commitment to the Maize and Blue. In doing so, he became the first player to commit to Michigan’s 2022 class, which is now ranked No. 15 overall.
Five-star Jaden Bradley and four-star Seth Trimble were also considered for the point guard spot in Michigan’s 2022 class, but Michigan will more than likely move on from both players and focus on other positions.
McDaniel is the No. 4 player in Virginia, No. 14 point guard and No. 83 overall prospect on 247Sports’ composite in the 2022 class.
