Former Michigan Basketball standout Franz Wagner was drafted with the No. 8 pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday night by the Orlando Magic.
At his introductory press conference with Orlando, Wagner described the type of player he is and what he’ll bring to a Magic franchise that desperately needs to get back on the right track.
“A lot of versatility, someone that always wants to learn, always wants to get better, is never satisfied,” Wagner said. I’m going to work my butt off in Orlando to become the best basketball player I can be and impact the team’s game as much as possible.”
When it comes to the type of traits he’ll exhibit right out of the gate for Orlando, Wagner pointed to his ability to score. “I think I can score the ball really well. I also think I can pass really well and make decisions and create for other people. At least I hope I can do that in the NBA,” Wagner said. “I think shooting is going to be really important for me at the next level and showing that I can spread the floor.”
As far as the legacy Wagner wants to have in the NBA, he’d like to play a while and be considered a hard worker. “I want to be known as a great teammate and someone that goes about his business like a professional, comes in early and gets his work done and is never satisfied with himself,” Wagner said. “I want to have the same kind of work ethic that I have now, even in 15 years, however my career goes. I hope I can improve every day and even do that in the next couple years.”
Tom Brady gets animated at Bucs practice
Nothing ever comes easy in the NFL, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are finding that out during training camp. Tom Brady and the offense aren’t playing up to their high standards and Tampa’s stout defense has been getting their licks in — leading to some animated behavior by Brady.
We just watched Tom Brady punt the ball (albeit in frustration after the defense got a third-down ‘sack’ in situational drills) and it… wasn’t bad.

Turns out Brady has a leg on him and fun fact: actually has punted in a game before.
Play of the day: Devin White leaping interception over the middle on a pass from Tom Brady. Brady just screamed a REALLY loud “f—-!” Crowd went wild.
