Betting odds revealed for Michigan vs. Iowa in the Big Ten Championship

The Wolverines open as huge favorites in Indy next weekend.

After defying all odds and winning The Game without Jim Harbaugh on Saturday, the Michigan Wolverines booked their third consecutive Big Ten Championship Game appearance in Indianapolis.

Their opponent — the Iowa Hawkeyes. Kirk Ferentz and company played Michigan in the 2021 edition of the conference championship, losing to the Wolverines, 42-3.

The oddsmakers don’t expect it to be that much of a blowout, but they do believe the Wolverines have a huge advantage. The opening betting line was just released by DraftKings Sportsbook, and Michigan is a 22.5-point favorite to begin the week. The over/under is set at a very low total of 35.

Iowa won the Big Ten West after going 10-2 overall and 7-2 in the conference. The Hawkeyes relied heavily on their strong defense after year-long injuries to quarterback Cade McNamara, and star tight ends Erick All and Luke Lachey.

Meanwhile, Michigan is coming off its third straight win over Ohio State. In the 30-24 victory, J.J. McCarthy and Blake Corum paced the offense, while Rod Moore and Will Johnson both intercepted Kyle McCord.

Iowa has only defeated two conference opponents all season — Michigan State (26-16) and Rutgers (22-0) — by double-digits, and only put up 30+ points once all season long in a Week 2 blowout over Western Michigan. To this I say — good luck in Indianapolis.
