Announced on Friday night, 2024 four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair has officially decommitted from Boise State and will focus his recruitment on Michigan and Oregon.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Idaho native committed to Boise State back in August. However, with the Broncos firing head coach Andy Avalos, Bair is more open-minded about his recruitment. He visited Oregon in November, and then followed that up with a trip to Ann Arbor for the Wolverines’ matchup with Ohio State, which left him in awe.
“It was crazy, so many people and so much talent on the field, how well they develop players is crazy,” Bair told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong ($). “They are just bigger and more physical than any other team I’ve seen.
“Just how well they develop regardless of position. Every guy on the team looks completely different once they touch that program. They haven’t thrown the ball a ton with coach Harbaugh (suspended), but I feel like I could add a whole different element to their offense and really stretch the field on explosive plays for them.”
Bair is one of the fastest players in his recruiting cycle, running a 10.15 100-meter dash time back in the spring. He’s also not too shabby at catching the ball, reeling in 73 passes for 1,073 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior in 2022.
The only downside is Bair plans on taking a two-year mission trip, so he won’t be on the campus of his future college until 2026. Still, for a prospect of his caliber, it’s well worth the wait.
Now we wait and see if Bair makes a decision during the early signing period, which begins on Dec. 20. The clock is ticking, so stay tuned.
Bair is the No. 1 player in the state of Idaho, No. 10 wide receiver and No. 37 overall player on 247Sports’ composite rankings.
