The No. 1 Michigan Wolverines are 13-0 on the season and a wide array of playmakers have contributed to their undefeated season.
In this week’s edition of SB Nation Reacts, Michigan fans sounded off on who they believe is Michigan’s offensive and defensive MVP for 2023.
On defense, cornerback Mike Sainristil ran away with the MVP honors with 92 percent of the vote. Sainristil has two forced fumbles and five interceptions this season. Sainristil was most recently named the Big Ten Championship Game MVP after Michigan beat Iowa 26-0.
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy came in first with 49 percent, running back Blake Corum was second with 34 percent, while offensive guard Zak Zinter came in at third with 16 percent.
McCarthy was named the Griese-Brees Big Ten Quarterback of the Year this season after completing 74.2 percent of his passes for 2,630 yards with 19 touchdowns and four interceptions. McCarthy also had 146 yards rushing and three rushing scores. McCarthy ranks No. 6 in passing efficiency at 170.25.
Corum’s rushed for 1,028 this season and leads the nation with 24 rushing touchdowns. Corum was named Big Ten Running Back of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Zinter was named a unanimous First-Team All-American after a stellar season along Michigan’s offensive line. Over the last 30 year just eight other Michigan players have had that honor. A leg injury against Ohio State ended Zinter’s season, but there’s no doubt he was the most impressive lineman for the Wolverines.
