After winning their third consecutive Big Ten Championship Game, the Michigan Wolverines are headed to the College Football Playoff. Standing in their way of an appearance in the National Championship are the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl.
The opening betting odds were just released by DraftKings Sportsbook, and the Wolverines are a short 2.5-point favorite over the Tide. The over/under is set at 46. The Michigan money line (ML) is -135, while the Alabama ML is +114.
The Wolverines put on a clinic in Indianapolis last night against the Iowa Hawkeyes, shutting out the Big Ten West champs, 26-0. It wasn’t a pretty game by any means, but they got the job done thanks to two Blake Corum rushing touchdowns and two forced fumbles by slot cornerback Mike Sainristil, who was named the game’s MVP.
Meanwhile, Alabama played a hard-fought game against the then-No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship and came out on top, 27-24. The Tide’s defense was particularly impressive, limiting Georgia’ ground game to just 78 yards on 31 carries (2.5 yards per carry).
Alabama’s only loss this season was all the way back in Week 2, losing at home to the No. 3 ranked Texas Longhorns, 34-24. The Tide have had a roller coaster season, but they have hit their stride late in the year and very likely have a lot of confidence, having already won the CFP National Championship three times under head coach Nick Saban.
