Michigan rises to No. 7 in latest AP Poll

The Wolverines are the highest ranked team of the seven Big Ten teams in the AP Top 25 Poll.

Michigan basketball keeps moving up while other Big Ten teams are beginning to join the party.

The Wolverines (6-0) were lifted up two spots from No. 9 a week ago to the No. 7 ranking in this weeks AP Poll. U-M is joined by six other conference opponents in the AP Top 25.

Michigan State (5-1) jumped back into the top 10 at No. 9 with two big wins this weekend over UCLA and No. 17 Texas. Iowa (5-0) jumped up five spots to No. 14, Ohio State (6-0) jumped up seven slots from No. 23 to No. 16, Purdue (5-1) went from No. 24 to No. 19, Wisconsin (5-1) jumped three spots to No. 22 and Maryland (6-0) makes its first appearance in the top 25 at No. 24.

The win over currently ranked No. 23 Villanova (5-2) is still looming large for the Wolverines positioning. They will be put to the test this week with a showdown against No. 11 North Carolina (6-1) at 9:30 p.m. in the Crisler Center.
