Happy Saturday, everybody!

Another Saturday, another Michigan Wolverines’ basketball game in Ann Arbor. It’s truly a beautiful day.

The Wolverines today take on the South Carolina Gamecocks, a team they lost to just two years ago on the road 61-46. It was a rough game for pretty much everybody, but a lot has changed in two years and Michigan is one of the elite programs in the country as of now.

The Gamecocks are sitting at 4-4 and have not won a true road game yet this season, even though they are, on average, outscoring their opponents (74.2 PPG to 70.4 PPG).

Keep an eye on freshman guard A.J. Lawson. He leads the team in scoring (14.9 PPG) and assists with 27. Senior forward Chris Silva averages 10.3 PPG and leads the team in rebounding with 48, and fifth-year senior Hassani Gravett (what a name) is averaging 10.0 PPG and is hitting 42.4 percent of his 3-point shots.

Michigan only hits on 64.2 percent of its free throws, but South Carolina isn’t much better. The Gamecocks are making just 70.7 percent of their free throws this season, and the three players that have started all eights games for them so far this season combine to make about 60 percent.

If the Wolverines stick to the status quo, this should be another victory for the Maize and Blue. This would be great momentum for them heading into a week of rest/no travel before playing at home again next Saturday against Western Michigan.
