After the Michigan Wolverines’ four wins in four days in New York City during the Big Ten Tournament, the Associated Press threw some love to John Beilein and company, and rightfully so.

The latest AP Poll has the Wolverines slotted in at No. 7, coming in behind No. 1Virginia, No. 2 Villanova, No. 3 Xavier, No. 4 Michigan State (hmm), No.5 Duke and No. 6 Gonzaga.

Rounding out this week’s top 10 are Cincinnati, Kansas and Purdue, the team the Wolverines defeated in the Big Ten Tournament Championship. Ohio State is the final Big Ten team ranked this week, coming it at No. 17.

The Wolverines now have a long break before the start of the NCAA Tournament. Selection Sunday is just six short days away, so we will know soon enough where the Wolverines will begin their postseason and who they will play in the first round.

If the season were to end today, you’d imagine Michigan would be a No. 2 seed in the tournament by being No. 7 overall, but it is not an automatic guarantee.

In the coming days, we will have updates on what teams Michigan fans should be rooting for in order for the Wolverines to have the best chance at the highest possible seed in the tournament. Stick with Maize n Brew over the coming days.
