The Michigan Wolverines sit at No. 5 in the latest college basketball AP poll released on Monday afternoon. The team slid back from last week’s ranking of No. 4 after a week that included a loss at No. 1 Louisville and a Big Ten win on Friday at home over Iowa.
The Big Ten continues to impress as the nation’s elite college hoops conference with three of the top five teams coming from our neck of the woods.
Here is how this week’s poll shook out:
- Louisville
- Kansas
- Ohio State
- Maryland
- Michigan
- Gonzaga
- Duke
- Kentucky
- Virginia
- Oregon
- Baylor
- Auburn
- Memphis
- Dayton
- Arizona
- Michigan State
- North Carolina
- Butler
- Tennessee
- Villanova
- Florida State
- Seton Hall
- Xavier
- Colorado
- San Diego State
Notably, it is Ohio State, not Michigan State, that may be the class of the conference where things stand right now. As recent as Monday, they were KenPom’s No. 1 ranked team, while MSU sits at No. 4.
Michigan’s schedule does not get any easier the next week or so with another Big Ten game on the road at Illinois on Wednesday before hosting No. 10 Oregon on Saturday in Ann Arbor at noon.
