The Wolverines basketball team is set to face the Iowa Hawkeyes in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament later tonight in Chicago. Michigan is coming off a loss to Michigan State last Saturday in East Lansing and will be looking to get back to their winning ways before the NCAA Tournament next week.
In their lone meeting this season, Michigan couldn’t get much going and Iowa had a convincing home victory, winning 74-59, which was Michigan’s biggest loss of the season. But now they’re playing on a neutral court and that may make all the difference.
Iowa has been trending downward of late, losing 5 of their last 7 games. But Michigan has had a rough go of it in their last seven as well, with two losses to Michigan State and a loss to lowly Penn State.
While a loss to Iowa wouldn’t prove to be fatal, it wouldn’t be a good development for a Michigan team that still needs to get some kinks worked out before the NCAA Tournament begins.
Michigan is favored to win this one, but they have to stay out of foul trouble, make their 3’s, and have no lapses on the defenses side of the ball, because Iowa can score.
Our Managing Editor Anthony Broome will be at the B1G Tournament all weekend, so be sure to follow our coverage on the site and on Twitter.
