The Wolverines faced the Grizzlies in the first round last March, scrapping their way to a 61-47 victory. The game this time will be in Des Moines.
This is Michigan’s second-straight appearance in the West Regional, which takes place in Anaheim this year. The Wolverines stormed to the Final Four last year with a 99-72 victory over Texas A&M and a 58-54 squeaker over Florida State.
Gonzaga stands on the opposite side of the region as the No. 1 seed. Nevada and Florida are the 7 and 10-seeds on the other end of the pod.
John Beilein and company got to their third consecutive Big Ten Tournament final, but wilted late to rival Michigan State. They enter March Madness with a 28-6 record.
