Florida and Michigan are playing again. I feel like Michael Scott when Toby Flenderson returned to Dunder-Mifflin.
For the true Wolverine nuts, the sheer amount of times that Michigan has played the Gators in something is bordering on absurd (at least for non-conference foes). Here’s the recent list:
Michigan vs Florida matchups this decade:
— Jay Sarkar (@ByJaySarkar) March 22, 2019
2019: NCAA Tournament
2019: Softball
2018: CFB
2017: CFB
2016: CFB
2015: Softball (College World Series)
2013: Elite Eight
2011: Women’s Swimming
Here’s another analogy: after the ball-numbing stupidity of the Peach Bowl just three months ago, I feel like Michael Corleone in Godfather III:
“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!”
Anyways...No. 2 Michigan plays No. 10 Florida in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 Saturday (5:15 p.m. EST, CBS). The Wolverines dispatched another increasingly familiar opponent in Montana on Thursday, while the Gators chomped on Nevada’s Martin twins to advance.
Ken Pomeroy gives the Wolverines a 72 percent chance of winning, predicting a 63-56 victory.
That’s the skinny. Now let’s rant and rave in our game thread below. Question of the day: If Michigan’s basketball team was the cast of a TV show, which one would it be?
My answer: Parks and Rec. John Beilein has the chipper optimism of Leslie Knope. Jordan Poole has the “Rent o’ Swag” feel of a Tom Haverford. Lastly, Iggy Brazdeikis has the puppy energy of Andy Dwyer.
Or you could just talk about the game. That’s fine.
