Michigan-Texas Tech at 9:39 Thursday.
Michigan State-LSU at 7:09 Friday.
Both games on CBS.
It’ll be a matchup of the two best defenses in college basketball. John Beilein and Luke Yaklich have combined to concoct the No. 2 efficiency defense per Ken Pomeroy. Chris Beard’s team from Lubbock ranks No. 1.
This will be the third straight Sweet 16 appearance for Michigan after a loss to Oregon in 2017 and last year’s run to the NCAA final. Texas Tech bowed out last year in the Elite 8 to Villanova, holding the Wildcats to their lowest point total of the tournament.
One of the more intriguing battles will be Red Raiders guard Jarrett Culver trying to score against Zavier Simpson, one of the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year candidates. Culver is Kenpom’s No. 2 player in the country, scoring 18.8 points per game.
Stay tuned for this week’s coverage as Michigan tries to return to the national championship game.
