Luke Yaklich and his next career move are still very much up in the air amid reports that Juwan Howard is set to be named the next head coach of Michigan Basketball. While Michigan may be making him an offer to stay on the coaching staff, some believe that he could be heading to a spot where another reported head coaching candidate is currently stationed.
According to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, he believes that Texas and head coach Shaka Smart, who was mentioned as a candidate to replace John Beilein, will move quickly to add Yaklich onto his staff in Austin. Brendan Quinn of The Athletic says that no offer has been made and Yaklich is being given time to sort out what is going on in Ann Arbor.
Yaklich was also a candidate for the head coaching position at Michigan. With Howard set to take over for Yaklich’s former boss in Beilein, it remains to be seen if Michigan will be able to make him an offer to stick around or if he even is interested in doing so with the change.
We will have more on all of the coaching search news as it becomes available.
