Juwan Howard announces Jon Sanderson will remain working with U-M Basketball

A big retention in terms of player development for Michigan Basketball.

NCAA Basketball: Purdue at Michigan Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Michigan Men’s Basketball head coach Juwan Howard took to social media on Friday afternoon (yes, he does have a verified account now so you can unfollow the fakes) to announce that the program will be retaining the services of strength and conditioning coach Jon Sanderson under his coaching regime.

Sanderson and his “Camp Sanderson” program have been instrumental in player development at Michigan in the program while working under John Beilein. While Beilein had the special touch of taking a kid’s skill-set to the next level, Sanderson’s work helped them physically take a step forward and the leaps that players have made from a physique standpoint under his watch has been nothing short of impressive in his time in Ann Arbor.

No word yet has been given on other roles within the program during the coaching transition, but this is a big-time retaining for Michigan Basketball. Questions about how Howard will develop players will be there until there is a track record one way or another, but at the very least, we know that the Wolverines will physically be up to the task with the work they put into the condition programs.
