With Juwan Howard set to be introduced as the next head coach for Michigan basketball Thursday afternoon, a timely update was sent out on Twitter Thursday morning, as assistant coach DeAndre Haynes announced he would not be returning to the program.

The 2018-19 season was his second with the Wolverines, and he has been an assistant coach at every stop in his career so far (Kent State, Toledo, Illinois State, Michigan).

According to MGoBlue.com, Haynes was “instrumental in working with the Wolverine backcourt and offensive strategies.”

The Detroit native is just the latest assistant to not be retained by Howard, as Luke Yaklich is set to be an assistant coach on Shaka Smart’s staff at the University of Texas. The only assistant to be retained by Howard is Saddi Washington.
