Here is a recap of the event in tweet form from both myself and MnB contributor Jay Sarkar from Crisler:

Howard believes a championship culture with the Miami Heat prepared him for this

Warde Manuel went to bat for Howard and what he brings as a candidate
"In the last two years, 110 schools changed basketball coaches. A lot of those who changed had great deals of experience. Let him (Howard) evolve into a great had coach of his own. I am willing to gamble with people that love this place the way he does. Let him evolve" - Manuel.

This did not come with other motives in terms of the Fab Five
"Let me be clear, Juwan Howard is hired to coach our basketball team and lead them to tremendous success. He is not here to reunite and raise banners." - Manuel on possible Fab Five reunion chatter that has come up.

Manuel said a counteroffer to Beilein was not possible because he accepted the Cavs job
"I was very surprised. He called and told me he had accepted the job so there was nothing to discuss. The timing... He called and simply said 'I have already accepted the job, so that leads us to celebrate Juwan Howard being here today." - Manuel on Beilein's departure.
