Purdue transfer Nojel Eastern is no longer heading to play for Juwan Howard and the Michigan Wolverines, he announced on Wednesday afternoon via Twitter. Eastern says he was not admitted to the university due to credits that were unable to be transferred due to his major.

The 6-foot-7, 225-pound guard — who announced his commitment to Michigan on May 14 after just two days in the transfer portal — averaged 4.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists last year for the Boilermakers. He was a two-year starter at Purdue, starting 27-of-31 games last season. He’s a strong defensive player but is a limited shooter, making just three triples in his college career, all during his freshman season.
Michigan now has one open scholarship available for the 2020-21 season. Wake Forest transfer Chaundee Brown has yet to be announced by the program, as well. That likely also has to do with the admissions process and it would stand to reason that we will be hearing something official on him soon, as well.
