Jace Howard officially kicked off a pipeline for his family in the Michigan Wolverines basketball program when he committed and signed to play for his father and head coach Juwan Howard. Now that connection will be grown by the young Howard wearing the No. 25 jersey at Michigan that was made famous by his dad.

The announcement was made on Sunday evening via Twitter.

“Wearing #25 has been something I have wanted for a long time,” the tweet read. “Getting my dad’s blessing made it truly an amazing moment for both of us & our family. He made #25 an iconic number at Michigan & I will wear it with pride every day”

Juwan Howard chimed in and reacted to the news as well.

Jace Howard was a three-star prospect and the No. 379 player in the country in the 2020 class per the 247Sports Composite rankings. It was originally planned for him to walk-on at Michigan, but open scholarship opportunities allowed him to join the program on a full basis.

There is another Howard in the recruiting pipeline in the form of 2022 guard Jett Howard, who is a four-star prospect and the nation’s No. 45 overall player. There are some in the industry that believe he will eventually raise to five-star status.
