Things tend to move quickly when a star athlete expresses his discontent for the franchise they play for. This was the case of NBA guard James Harden, who has been attempting to maneuver his way out of the Houston Rockets organization for months. He received his wish on Wednesday afternoon and a Michigan Wolverines favorite was involved.
The Rockets were able to finally get a deal done to send Harden to the Brooklyn Nets in a package that included Michigan guard Caris LeVert. After a brief five-minute stint in Houston, LeVert was turned around and sent to the Indiana Pacers in a deal that included former Indiana star Victor Oladipo.
Sound confusing? Well, it was. Below is the full return for each of the teams with the Cleveland Cavaliers also getting involved.
Sources: Full current trade:— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) January 13, 2021
Rockets: Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, 3 BKN first-rounders (22, 24, 26), 1 MIL first (22, unprotected), 4 BKN 1st round swaps (21, 23, 25, 27)
Nets: James Harden
Pacers: Caris LeVert, 2nd-rounder
Cavs: Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince
LeVert was the 20th overall pick of the Nets in 2016 and has worked himself into one of the better young players in the NBA. Last season, he averaged a career-high 18.7 points and is off to a similar trajectory this season at 18.5 per game.
Few players get to say they have been a part of three organizations in a day. But with the dust clearing one a major blockbuster deal, LeVert will once again be in familiar colors as he suits up for the Pacers.
