WATCH: Breaking down Michigan’s win over Northwestern

Breaking down the lopsided Michigan victory against Northwestern

Franz Wagner had maybe his best game as a Michigan Wolverine this past Monday in the University’s first ranked match-up of the year. Over the much improved Wildcats of Northwestern, Wagner put up 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 assists, and 2 steals to absolutely cram the stat sheet. It’s clear he’s found his stride this year after what many would call a slow start. Pay no mind to that, any longer, as this is the third game in a row that Wagner has started to heat up. With Isaiah Livers still nursing a twisted ankle from the Maryland game, his emergence is even more important for the time being.

In other news, Hunter Dickinson remaining extraordinary is anything but news. He put up the game-high 19 points on 8-12 shooting. He wasn’t able to pick up another double-double this time, with only 3 rebounds, though he DID pick up his 4th Big Ten Freshman of the Week award. For those counting, he’s 4/5 thus far since the season started. It’s not for a lack of performance on his part that kept him from going 5 for 5, you can blame the Big Ten scheduling for the 12-day break the basketball team got leading up to their Christmas Day showdown vs. the Cornhuskers. Dickinson has been superb and should get plenty of accolades at season’s end if he can keep this up.
