WATCH: Michigan Basketball Highlights vs. Ohio State

Breaking down potentially the best game of the season in a top 5 rival showdown

I believe all the questions have been answered for the Michigan Wolverines at this point. Early on in the season the main question was, “How will they play against GOOD teams,” after going undefeated in their relatively weak non-conference schedule. After beating a fair number of solid-to-good Big Ten teams, it shifted to the focus on Michigan’s road performance, and plenty of questions about how Michigan would return after the University-wide COVID shutdown. I think it’s pretty safe to say they’re definitively a top 5 basketball team in the nation.

The #4 Ohio State Buckeyes didn’t make it easy, though. EJ Liddell and Duane Washington proved to be extremely tough match-ups for the Wolverines. Their combined total of 53 points accounted for over half of Ohio State’s point total. Both players were able to hit some heavily contested 2s and were hot from behind the arc, going a combined 8-15 from deep.

Luckily, Michigan brought their offense as well. Dickinson had one of his best games of his career with a 22 point, 9 rebound effort. Eli Brooks, Chaundee Brown, Isaiah Livers, and Mike Smith all scored in double digits, proving how versatile the Wolverine offense truly can be. As the game pressed on, Michigan capitalized on a few key turnovers from the Buckeyes, hitting their free throws down the stretch to hold on to a 5-point victory.

Michigan improves to 16-1 overall on the season, and the path to an outright Big Ten title looks a little clearer.
