The Michigan Wolverines grabbed the final No. 1 seed available in the 2021 NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening. They will take on the winner of the Mount St. Mary’s vs. Texas Southern play-in game, and now we know the details.
The Wolverines will open their March Madness run on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET from Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana. The game will be broadcast via CBS with Ian Eagle, Jim Spanarkel and Jamie Erdahl on the call.
Michigan, of course, has experience playing at Mackey given their trips to take on Purdue. The Wolverines won their game inside the building this season by a score of 70-53.
The Wolverines will be heavy favorites in the opening round, as a No. 16 seed has only beaten a No. 1 once in the history of the tournament. The winner of the play-in game will emerge as KenPom’s lowest-ranked team left in the NCAA field.
Locations will rotate for each game in this tournament, which is being held entirely in the state of Indiana. We know that Michigan will play on Monday with a victory in the first round, but the time and location are yet to be determined.
Michigan would play the winner of the 8/9 matchup between LSU and St. Bonaventure with a win on Saturday afternoon.
