Chris Webber’s Fab Five teammate Juwan Howard is now the head coach of the Michigan men’s basketball team. Webber has made no secret how proud he is of his friend and what the team has accomplished. However, Webber’s love for Michigan hoops extends beyond the men’s team. Webber made it known how proud he is of what the women’s basketball program is accomplishing.

Webber spoke with the team virtually on Friday, letting them know they’re great, and that they’re underdogs.

“I’m a big fan, so it’s an honor to be able to talk to you ladies today,” Webber said right after he was greeted by applause from the team as he appeared virtual on a projector screen. “I just wanted first to say congratulations because you guys have accomplished something that’s never been done before at our school and I know you’re proud of that. I’m really glad to talk to you though because I know you guys got a lot more to do. Make sure that you execute what coach says because it’s all about the heart that you guys have. Embrace being the underdog, because that’s what you are, and so what.”

Michigan takes on No. 2 Baylor at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas at 3 PM eastern on Saturday afternoon. This marks the first time the women’s team has made the Sweet Sixteen.
