Welp, that wasn’t fun, at all. When your arguably best three players in Livers, Wagner, and Dickinson combine for 15 total points, you’re probably not going to have the best game. When the other team out-rebounds you 42-26, you’re probably not going to have the best game. When Austin Davis is by far your most efficient player, you’re....well, you get it by now.
It was a game where seemingly nothing could go right for the Michigan Wolverines, and it was incredibly frustrating to watch. Throughout the season, we had seen multiple players able to pick up the offensive lead, whether it be Livers, Wagner, Dickinson, or even Smith. In this one, no one could get going and Illinois had impressive performances from their guards despite missing Ayo Dosunmu.
Regardless, Michigan is a game away from clinching the outright Big Ten Championship and will need to shake off this ugly loss to regroup for their rivals that are hungry for an NCAA Tournament Bid.
