The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team will be remembered for what they were able to accomplish through adversity in the 2020-21 season, but the season ended abruptly with a thud in Tuesday night’s loss to UCLA in the Elite Eight.
Still, there is a vibe of gratefulness coming from the program in the hours after the loss.
Michigan won a regular season Big Ten championship and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in the second season with Juwan Howard at the helm. The Wolverines dealt with a COVID-related shut-down for three weeks they had nothing to do with and countless other hurdles throughout the year but stayed focused and fought throughout.
Howard shared a message to Michigan fans and supporters of the program on Wednesday as the team removes itself from the loss to the Bruins.
From the bottom of my heart I wanted to send love to EVERYONE who supported us this season.

There will be life long memories FOREVER. There were lessons learned and growth on & away from the court, for even me.
We cherish each one.

I love each of these young men who committed & worked so hard to reach our goals. They stayed connected, committed & diligent. We were close but we don’t hang our heads down.

We walk tall.
We walk proudly.
We walk TOGETHER.
Until next time.

Howard finishes his second season on the job in Ann Arbor with a 42-17 record coming off of a 23-5 mark this past season. A strong foundation has been laid for Michigan to sustain his early success with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country set to come ahead of next season.
