The Michigan Wolverines have been perusing the transfer portal as of late and could be a step closer to making another offseason addition. Coastal Carolina transfer Devante’ Jones will make his transfer decision on Saturday, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

Texas, Texas Tech, Memphis and Michigan are the four teams in the running for his services.

Jones averaged 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.8 steals per game this season at Coastal Carolina en route to being named the Sun Belt’s player of the year.

“In my next school, I’m looking to join a winning culture with a loving community,” Jones told ESPN.com. “I’ll only have one year so I just want the chance for a coach to trust in me to put the ball in my hands and trust me to make game-winning plays. But also, I want to be around a group of guys who love the game as much as me, if not more.”

Jones met with Juwan Howard via Zoom on Monday and there seems to be optimism that momentum has swung into Michigan’s favor. Still, we will have to wait and see how it plays out in the coming days as more information becomes available.

Michigan currently does not have an open scholarship for next season, but that is expected to change when Franz Wagner presumably declares for the 2021 NBA Draft. Jones is a graduate transfer and would have two years of eligibility remaining with his next school.
