Dave Brandon once floated Michigan-Ohio State not being annual

3

"Speaking of bad ideas, in the throes of Big Ten divisional realignment, Dave Brandon proposed that the Ohio State/Michigan game be occasionally moved to October, or in some cases, not played at all. He also proposed that Ohio State and Michigan be in different Big Ten divisions."

Thank goodness Dave Brandon is no longer Michigan's athletic director.

Jake Butt Is the Only Wolverine to Make ESPN's 2015 All-Big Ten Preseason Team

1

Michigan tight end Jake Butt is the only Wolverine to land on ESPN's 2015 All-Big Ten preseason team, which was released on Monday morning. On an offense full of question marks, Butt is the one sure commodity that the Wolverines have, and, with Jim Harbaugh's penchant for developing tight ends and targeting them in his offense, Butt seems primed to have an outstanding season.

No other Michigan players made the team, and it's hard to disagree with that decision. Michigan has lots of solid defenders, but none that stand out as the best at their position in the Big Ten. My best bet as to a Wolverine not named Butt that will crack the All-Big Ten team at season's end is Jourdan Lewis, but I understand why he's not on the preseason team.

Ohio State led the way with eight selections, while Michigan State had four players make the team.

Report: 2016 Michigan Commit Matt Falcon "Likely Out for the Season"

4

There have been some rumors in the past few days that 2016 Michigan running back commit Matt Falcon (Southfield, MI/Southfield HS) had suffered an injury. On Sunday night, the STATE CHAMPS! High School Sports Show reported that Falcon is "likely out for the season with a knee injury." This is the third knee injury that will force him to miss a large chunk of his high-school career. An ACL injury sidelined him for his entire sophomore season, and he missed half of his junior season after an MCL sprain. It's been a tough road for Falcon, and now it will get only tougher. Hopefully, he will be able to recover to full strength before he arrives in Ann Arbor next season.

Falcon is a four-star recruit and the No. 8 running back in the 2016 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings

Spike Albrecht seems to be enjoying Las Vegas

What a caption. And is being the center of attention at a Vegas bachelor party actually a step up from just spitting game to Kate Upton?

Derrick Green was all or nothing in 2014

+

Really interesting stuff here: Bill Connelly charts the Opportunity Rate (number of runs of five or more yards) and Highlight Yards per Opportunity (yards not credited to the offensive line on those runs) of all runners with 75 or more carries in 2014, and Michigan's Derrick Green pops up as the second player on his "All-Or-Nothing" list of players with 7.5 or more Highlight Yards per Opportunity, but who turned fewer than 35 percent of their carries into gains of 5.0+ yards.

Basically, that means that Green, who ran roughshod against Appalachian State, Miami of Ohio, and Rutgers, busted really big plays when he busted big plays, but didn't do so very often as a percentage of his total carries.
