Incoming Freshman Profiles: Kicker Andrew David

Taking a look at Michigan's kicker signee for the class of 2015

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Andrew David

Position: Kicker

Height/Weight: 5-9, 165 pounds

Location: Massillon, Ohio (Washington HS)

The Story

David committed to Michigan back in June 2013, making him one of the first members of the 2015 recruiting class. Other schools that made contact with him throughout his recruitment were Cincinnati, Purdue, Ohio State, Illinois and Pittsburgh, among others.

247 Sports' Composite Ranking has him rated as a three-star prospect and the ninth-ranked kicker in the class.

Chris Sailer Kicking had this to say about David following his commitment:

Andrew is a great young kicker.  A fine athlete with a strong leg.  Field goals are outstanding.  He is smooth, technically sound, and consistent.  Kickoffs are solid and will only continue to improve. Also shows punting ability.  Makes great strides each time we see him. Is going to be a top kicker in this class for years to come.   Has the right attitude and excellent work ethic.  Great prospect.  Nice early pick up for Michigan!

David will not have to worry about punting duties with Blake O'Neill handling that, but he absolutely will be the starting kicker for the team, barring anything unforseen. Like Sailer said, he has a great leg, and has even hit a 58-yard field goal in high school.
