Jim Harbaugh's first game coaching in the Big House was a success.
The Michigan Wolverines (1-1) were able to have their way with the Oregon State Beavers (1-1) behind a huge performance from running back De'Veon Smith.
Smith finished with 23 carries for 126 yards and three touchdowns. The rushing attack had 223 yards and four touchdowns overall, the last of which came from Derrick Green.
It wasn't always pretty, but the Wolverines were able to dictate how the game was played on both sides of the ball for most of the day.
Michigan was caught sleeping to start the game. On Oregon State's first offensive drive, they marched right down the field and were able to gain chunk yards. The drive was capped off by a 21-yard touchdown pass from freshman Seth Collins to Hunter Jarmon. They were not able to muster much on offense after that.
Kenny Allen hit two field goals in the win from 40 and 29-yards, respectively.
Jake Rudock was not quite as erratic today. He went 18-for-26 for 180 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He also lost a fumble on a sack.
Rudock was not stellar, but he showed some good things and make the right throws when he needed to.
The Wolverines will next play UNLV at Michigan Stadium a week from today. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
