If you've ever dreamed of running down the tunnel and taking the field with the Michigan Wolverines, now's your chance.
Michigan is holding open football tryouts next Saturday, Jan. 23. Get your best gym clothes on and give it a go if you dare. Tryouts are open to "all interested and enrolled students" and will be held at Glick Field House. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Glick's south entrance, and tryouts officially begin one hour later.
But before you get too excited, there are a few requirements:
The tryout is open to full-time students at the Ann Arbor campus; students attending the Flint and Dearborn campuses are unable to participate. In addition, a participant cannot be more than six years removed from high school unless on active military duty and/or a religious mission.
To be eligible to try out, all students will need to stop by Schembechler Hall from Jan. 13-15 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST to drop off and verify all necessary paperwork that is outlined in the tryout packet.
The football team will provide a practice jersey for the tryout, but each student is responsible for his own workout apparel, indoor athletic shoes and/or cleats.
Even if you don't make it, the practice jersey would be pretty cool (if you get to keep it, I'm not sure). Good luck, Maize n Brew readers!
