Freshman wide receiver/defensive back Brian Cole has been released from Michigan Football, according to Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247.
Cole had reportedly been in hot water with the coaching staff throughout the season for undisclosed reasons.
He was a four-star prospect and the state of Michigan's top player in the 2015 class coming out of Saginaw Heritage High School in Saginaw, Michigan. He and four-star quarterback Alex Malzone enrolled early in Ann Arbor last season and took part in spring practices.
Cole received time at wide receiver and defensive back in practice but never really made an impact on the field this past season for the Wolverines. He played in three games and mostly contributed on special teams. He was practicing at safety during Citrus Bowl preparation.
As far as the next step goes, Lorenz is reporting that Kentucky, Pitt, Arizona and Arizona State are possibly interested and that a trip to Lexington in the next few weeks.
