Michigan Wolverines rising junior Mason Cole is an early candidate to be named the nation's best center.

Cole is on the spring watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which was first granted in 2000 and goes to college football's top center each year.

Cole was named All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2015, and is one of six Big Ten centers on the watch list. Incredibly, he has started all 25 games of his college career so far, becoming the first freshman in Michigan history to start the season opener on the offensive line. He actually hasn't played center for the Wolverines before, but is switching to the position this year.

The winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Nebraska on Jan. 14.
