Michigan Football has hired former Indiana assistant Greg Frey to coach its tight ends and offensive tackles, along with being the run game coordinator, according to The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb.
The Wolverines fill the slot left by Tyrone Wheatley’s departure by Frey’s hiring and moving Jay Harbaugh, who coached the tight ends the last two seasons, to running backs coach.
Frey previously was a member of Michigan’s coaching staff from 2008-10 when he was the offensive line coach under Rich Rodriguez.
Frey spent the last six seasons at Indiana, where he has been widely regarded as one of the better position coaches in the conference and was nominated for the Broyles Award in 2015, which goes to the nation’s top assistant coach.
