The Michigan Wolverines may have beaten the Indiana Hoosiers 31-20, but it was a close game for much of the day.
At halftime, the score was 17-15 Indiana.
With goal-to-go, Michigan was in a situation where they had no timeouts, the clock was ticking down, and they were lining up to spike the football to set themselves up for a field goal to take the lead.
Unfortunately for Michigan, they weren’t able to spike the football in time. But it looks like an Indiana defender didn’t help them any.
In the video below you can see the IU player kicks the football as the referee is trying to set the ball down on the hash-mark.

Jim Harbaugh was asked about this after the game, and he told the media the explanation he received.
“I asked them ‘did they kick the ball?’, and the response from the umpire was ‘he didn’t mean to’. So I further asked, you know, ‘that doesn’t seem like a judgment call’, the ball was either kicked by one of their players or not in my opinion,” Harbaugh said.

Should this have been ruled delay of game or unsportsmanlike conduct? Expect the Big Ten to clarify early next week whether the crew botched this call or not.
