Jim McElwain has officially joined the University of Michigan football coaching staff after the program sent out the official release on Tuesday afternoon.

McElwain, who is a former head coach at Colorado State and Florida and former offensive coordinator at Alabama, will be joining as the wide receivers coach. No official word from the school on if he will be the offensive coordinator or in charge of playcalling.

“I am excited to work with this offensive staff and Coach Harbaugh,” McElwain said in a statement. “There are a lot of great offensive minds in that coaching room and I look forward to learning from them.”

McElwain becomes the 10th assistant coach on the staff.
