One of the biggest quarterback battles in the country is in Ann Arbor, with many leaning toward Ole Miss transfer Shea Patterson earning the job.
One of the biggest differences among the players competing for the starting position, including Brandon Peters, is Patterson has the most playing time and experience at a highly competitive level. He had 3,139 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in two seasons at Ole Miss.
Pat Forde with Yahoo! released a story Monday highlighting the 25 most intriguing quarterbacks in college football. Some would maybe take Trace McSorley at Penn State, Alex Hornibrook from Wisconsin, Brian Lewerke at Michigan State or Dwayne Haskins at Ohio State as the top in the Big Ten, but according to Pat, Patterson is among the top five in all of college. Pat explained why Patterson comes in at that spot in his list:
“The most important transfer in college football, having negotiated some contentious times after leaving Mississippi and gaining immediate eligibility in Ann Arbor. Now all he has to do is ignite the Wolverines’ anemic passing game, lead some of the big victories the program has been lacking in recent years and solidify Jim Harbaugh’s job status. No big deal.”
Most of the others above that I listed respectfully londed in his group of 25:
No. 6 Trace McSorley — Penn State
No. 11 Dwayne Haskins — Ohio State
No. 16 Alex Hornibrook — Wisconsin
